Baby/Pre-Ballet:

This 45 min pre-school class will introduce your young dancer to the elegant movement of ballet. (Ballet shoes, Leotard, Tights, and Skirt are required and available for purchase at the studio)

Ballet (Levels 1-3) Ballet en Pointe (Levels 4-5):

Ballet is the foundation for all dance forms. At ESoD it is required to be enrolled in at least one ballet class to enroll in jazz, modern, choreography/variations and participate in Performance Group. Tap and Hip Hop do not have the ballet requirement. Classical ballet movement is light, graceful, and elegant.  As dancers continue, they may eventually be invited to dance on pointe.  Pointe training is offered to dancers that have completed our pre-pointe program and have been invited by the Studio Owner.  Pointe may not be for everyone, but everyone will benefit and enjoy ballet on soft shoes too!  ESoD ballet technique class focuses on learning ballet terminology, with a strong emphasis on proper placement, coordination, musicality, and the joy of moving the body in space. Proper ballet technique ensures dancers develop excellent muscle tone, flexibility, and versatility to perform various dance forms.  ESoD offers a progressive pre-professional Ballet program for the growth of the most dedicated and talented Ballet students who wish to dance on Pointe. Ballet requires discipline, focus, with consistency in classes year after year.  As the dancer advances multiple classes per week in ballet and other dance genres to increase technique and muscle memory.  The studio was founded on the Royal Academy of Ballet Dance technique, but also follows the Russian Vaganova technique.

Broadway Stars:

This combo class is an introduction to Broadway style Jazz and Tap for children 8 and up. The must-know moves of any future Broadway Star! Currently there is one class and as students register a second class will be added to be split by age and skill level.

Hip Hop:

Hip-Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or rap music.  It is an increasingly popular urban youth dance style with a funkier edge to the basic style of jazz.  ESoD students will be introduced to the different styles of hip-hop: breaking, locking, and popping.

Modern:

American Modern dance is a neo-classical form of ballet originated by the Pioneers of Dance at Bennington College in 1934: Martha Graham, Doris Humphrey, Hanya Holm and Charles Weidman. Over the last 100 years Modern dance has evolved from these 4 choreographers to create its’ own genres: lyrical and contemporary with the introduction of improvisation and acrobatics in dance.  Modern dance is unconventional with original movements with a foundation of ballet technique.  This style of dance uses contractions, flat backs, some acrobatics, partnering, lifts, and swing and release movements.

Tap:

Tap is offered for all ages. Students learn the fundamental rhythmical tap techniques, musicality, weight placement while enhancing motor skills.  ESoD has a more Broadway Style tap technique.

Musical Theater:

In this class students learn the basics of stage direction, Broadway style jazz movements in collaboration with fellow students.  Dancers will develop a technical foundation to master the skills needed to execute basic Broadway style dance movements in the genres of Tap and Jazz.  Performances use popular Broadway music. If available, these students may also work with our Voice coach or combine this class with the group or private voice lessons.

Jazz:

Jazz dance encourages and enhances a dancer’s individual dance style and personality. It is an energetic and fun class consisting of distinctive moves, fancy footwork, big jumps and quick turns. Jazz dance is introduced once dancers have a strong ballet background as it requires flexibility, technique and balance.
